2012Pampering Myself
As I am going to meet my girlfriends after a long time apart, I decided some pampering was in order. So, I treated myself to my first ever pedicure, and added a manicure (no nail color – for the benefit of the customs and immigration officials, as well as the airline employees who, in Canada, are not supposed to allow women with an M on their ID to board a plane).
It was a wonderful experience.
The place I chose had really great massage chairs in which to sit while the beautician cleaned, softened and massaged my feet and legs, followed by attending to the specific
matter of doing my nails. A similarly sensual experience attached to my manicure.
When I was done, I was prettified and relaxed. All in all, a good start to my trip!

Toughing it out again Janie? I just worry all the time your going to stress out. If wearing finger nail polish is all it takes to be thought of as a man trying to board a plane as a woman I’m afraid I’d have to take a train. I strolled through an airport full body scanner once dressed as a man but wearing a bra underneath. I could hear the young lady viewing the scanner screen stiffle a giggle as I passed through but another gal with airport security caught up with me with a big smile on her face and thanked me without explaining why. I assumed she had a male relative or friend who would be happy to hear there was another like him.
I’m still incredulous that I suddenly decided to live full time as Shirley about 6 weeks ago and so I have with grudging exceptions. I do intend to travel again so I’ll have to check with the respective agencies for what I can and can’t do. Silicon breast forms could look like explosive material and create an embarrassing situation at the security check point. “You can’t carry on your boobs ma’am. You either have to leave them here or check them with the baggage at the ticket counter.” Of course some women and a very few men have breast implants so how do they view that? A suicide bomber could have breast and hip implants. Isn’t security supposed to be simple? Perhaps not.
Darn. I’ve just noticed I broke one of my acrylic nails. I can’t seem to make it from one nail appointment to the next without breaking at least one. Sigh. Fortunately I’m so good looking it doesn’t matter. lol
Oh do carry on. I’m sure you’ll make the best of it and I look forward to your reports.
