2011Lead Balloon
Wow.
I am obviously out-to-lunch on what issues will resonate with you all out there.
I was sure that relaying that episode about coming within an inch of being discovered would bring out all sorts of comments about similar experiences, counsel on wise behavior, discussion of risk and need and so on.
But, I got nothing. Just a big, flat thud. A lead balloon.
Go figure.
So, as we approach the end of the year and start to take stock, maybe you could give me a hint of what you would like to see here in these pages.
While you’re asking Santa for stuff, why not also tell me what you want?
Who knows… you may get what you ask for…
Photos? Video? Fiction? News?
Advice on Fashion? Makeup? Voice? Dating?
Something else?
Or do you just want my thoughts and experiences, as before?

Hi Janie, As you know by now Santa has always delivered me a huge gift. I’m also blessed to have two really close women around me who seem to enjoy the present as much as I do. One of course is my daughter and the other is a woman from nearby Cincinnati.
Advice?
Just keep doing what you do. Your lifestyle and experiences are what attracted me to your blog in the first place!

Janie, I like your blog so much. You have a nice mix of pictures, experiences and thought pieces. I’d say keep writing about the things you enjoy.
As far as the lead balloon: maybe I missed something in your post and maybe it was just very understated, but although you expressed concern about being discovered, it didn’t seem like a “whew, that was really close” moment.
It may be that I’m so used to your being out so much and having a very feminine appearance, that it doesn’t seem like you’re as concerned about being discovered as many of us. That may be completely off base (may be a good post topic?) but it seems like it.
Maybe I haven’t read much about your concerns about being discovered or I just haven’t been reading closely. I’ve assumed that you have friends who know about Janie. Perhaps there aren’t all that many and I’m just projecting my wishes on your writing. Wouldn’t it be nice if most of our friends and family knew about our other selves and were happy and supportive about it?

Yes, Linda, it would be so nice if everyone could just know and accept, but that’s not reality. I am more fortunate than most in this respect, and I thank my lucky stars for that. But, even so, I often tempt fate in terms of people who don’t yet know.
The episode which I relayed wasn’t that close a call in and of itself as much as it was a realization that, but for a bit of luck, I would have been standing in the same spot as a woman instead of a man.
You’re right that I may be less concerned about being discovered than most, but it would nevertheless not be pleasant, and there are still a few people that absolutely should not know.
So, yeah… whew!
And, thanks so much for you nice words about my blog. I really do appreciate it.

I like your blog mostly because you write about everyday experiences of your life as Janie.
And life tells the best stories, so I vote for keeping it as it is now, because it’s very good.
Not every story will get tons of feedback, some will stir things up, some will be more or less ignored. The perfect mirror of life.

Hello Janie
You asked what would we would like to read.Well all I can offer is “Please Mam, can we have some more?” More what? Well intelligently written slices of Janie’s life is a fine entree. Followed up with some more tastefully naughty cheesecake (photos) for dessert. Incidentally I loved the photo of you under the Christmas tree in red satin, delicious.
Personally, right now I enjoy your editorial mix as it stands. One day you are in New York City, the next day you’re sitting on Santa’s knee. In between it is about balancing life in between you and him. Your articles are never dull but interesting and I appreciate you making the effort to share your thoughts and life like this.
I was lucky last year when I stumbled across your blog. I was searching for the opposite of what I found but I stayed because it turns out that Janie’s life is by far more interesting then the salacious transgendered material I was looking for.
Who knew? I didn’t but I’m glad I found your blog and I’m looking forward to reading more in 2012. If I did have a request I’d love to know more about that transition. By that I mean the time between after you come home from work, toss your hard hat aside and holler, “Wilma, I’m home!” I’m curious and certain there is a story or two about what happens as you metamorphose from that guy into the Janie we occasionally catch a glimpse of in red satin or black nylon on her way to another adventure into the city.
Until then have a Happy New Year and thanks for sharing your journey.
Robert

Robert, that’s about the best comment a girl could get, and I thank you so much for that. xoxo
I will try to write that post for you when I have the chance.
Happy New Year to you too.
