2011My Idea of Sexy
The way I see it, sometimes the simplest things are the sexiest.
You can put on a corset and collar, low-cut bustier, micro-mini skirt and fishnet stockings, spiked thigh-high boots and dramatic makeup and you’ll have something screaming sexy, no doubt.
But, in my view, that’s trying too hard. And the results are more shrill than “sexy” should be.
Sexy is a mood, a feeling… it is something sensual and deep rather than painted on superficially. Its subtlety is what makes it so powerful… it is almost an ambush the way it overwhelms its prey…
Such is the case with a simple black dress, worn with a pair of natural-colored high-heeled pumps.
There is nothing harsh that stands out. The short-but-not-too-short hemline of the dress enhances the legs, and the skin-tone of the shoes further elongates them, all without any vulgarity, any provocation to thoughts that privates are in danger of being exposed. (In this regard, please keep in mind that my pose in the photo included here is for effect and not normally done in polite company; the dress hangs below mid-thigh when standing.)
The usual idea is to wear black shoes with a black dress. It is a terrific look too, matched and balanced. But, try it with neutral shoes for a change.
There’s a wow! factor you’ll love!

Yes, I agree, sexy is a state of mood, is a feeling. You can be sexy without being slutty and that consists in using only one sexy item in your outfit, not all of them together.
By the way, your photo is very sexy! :xoxo

Gosh, maybe your best blog ever…but maybe that’s just because I totally agree with everything you say….er, said. True “sexiness”, is an attitude, and that attitude makes the outfit, and the girl, look…well, sexy. If I may say so, you do it all the time. Congrats!
Now, I gotta go get me some neutral pumps….. 😉

The essence of sexy: less is more (not literally) and do not exaggerate, just what you did, beautiful sexy girl!

Couldn’t agree more Janie. I think real sexy is almost incidental – or even accidental – and not a contrived sexy look. I guess I come from a time when a sexy photo was a girl perched cross legged on a car. Sexy also has a lot to do with attitude and facial expression and that’s what you do brilliantly. The t-girl photos I remember as being sexy are usually of girls who dress well but who have arrangede themselves in a pose which is sexy. I think we get an extra kick out of seeing a woman that we”ve pigeon holed as classy or business like or lady like in a sexy pose. It’s like we’re seeing something we’re not supposed to – the voyeur. – Fiona xx

Indeed Janie, for me watching a woman with long ,beautiful hair brushing it thoroughly is so feminine and sexy and it is not intended to be ,it is merely a necessary routine but not to many a man who watches. Dale

I agree Janie, sexy is more an attitude than dress while dress does sometimes enhanse, attitude exudes. You do a great job of both. Thanks for sharing.

I once had a lengthy discussion with an ‘expert on female behavior’ (can’t remember the correct name of her profession, it’s a special side-branch of ‘normal’ psychology).
One interesting result of that discussion was that being sexy (to others) is almost always the result of ONE single factor.
Be it something from your outfit (shoes or skirts are the obvious candidates), something mother nature gave you (lips, legs, figure, or course only when your outfit presents it nicely), or sometimes even your state of mind. You can wear your most worn outfit and still people will think you’re sexy when YOU feel sexy.
Adding another sexy factor (e.g. high heels AND a deep cleavage) and the latter will start to compete with the first one. Still all good and sexy, but not the same effect and border-lining to be slightly over the top.
Add more sexy things and it becomes what you described above as ‘shrill’. Good if you want a quick one-night-stand, but not what falls into MY definition of ‘attractive’.
That’s why my looks in public photos (like the ones I’ve uploaded to Flickr) are completely different to the looks I prefer when going out in real life.
I love posing like this:

but I prefer to go out like that:

You look hot either way – really! But, I get your point. The first one would look a little out of place for a nice day at a cafe. xo Janie
